As part of the All-Ukrainian Ophthalmology Online Marathon Ophthalmic iSchool, scientific and educational events are traditionally held for ophthalmologists, aimed at sharing experiences and discussing innovations in the treatment of ophthalmological diseases.
 

The seminar, held on February 25, 2025, under the theme "From Neurons to Vision: Clinical Cases Transforming Practice", served as a platform for discussing key issues in the field of neuro-ophthalmology.

Glaucoma is one of the leading diseases causing irreversible vision loss. Scientific research confirms that oxidative stress is a key factor in the development of glaucomatous neuropathy, as it induces apoptosis and necrosis of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs). Therefore, finding effective methods to combat oxidative stress is becoming a crucial direction in modern ophthalmology.

During the event, Valartin Pharma presented Ophthaxanthin — a complex formulation containing the most powerful natural antioxidant, the carotenoid astaxanthin, along with vitamins E and C. Thanks to its proven neuroprotective effect, astaxanthin effectively prevents the loss of retinal ganglion cells and preserves visual function, even in severe conditions such as anterior ischemic optic neuropathy.

During the discussion, seminar participants reviewed clinical cases and explored new treatment strategies for glaucoma. It was emphasized that a comprehensive treatment approach, including antioxidant protection, can significantly slow disease progression and improve patients' quality of life.
